Asus zenwifi keeps disconnecting

Would an Asus ZenWifi XT9 (2 pack, connected to each other by ethernet) would be overkill for my needs ? We have 2 computers working from home, kids have their laptops, 2 TVs, 3 smartphones, eventually a gaming console, etc.) ... It keeps all original functions, but expands the capabilities and options.

My 2nd node XT12 however constantly goes offline, the top of it turns red and all wireless devices drop off the node. I have both the XT12's plugged in via ethernet using the 2.5 WAN. I have the node set to use the 2.5 backhaul ethernet.
