Jun 7, 2019 · When Green City Market sprouted in Chicago 20 years ago, it was a modest affair with nine vendors in an alley beside the Chicago Theatre. The city’s foodie cred was just starting to bud. Green City Market typically begins its outdoor seasons in Lincoln Park and West Loop in May. But the Lincoln Park market got city approval to start selling in April, about a month ahead of schedule, Executive Director Mandy Moody said. The West Loop location is scheduled to relaunch outdoors May 7. Her commitment to educating communities on where food comes from and why it matters and increasing access to locally-grown food has grown through her time with Green City Market.
